What a weekend!!! We dedicated the new Social Hall and had the Temple Bat Yam Gala in our own facility. Terri Voss You Rock! Kudos to all of the volunteers and comittee members.
Thanks for making our shul, our home.

  5. Abby Mosher Says:

The Mitzvah Day project at Tomorrow’s Rainbow was a wonderful success! Thank you to everyone that helped us bring smiles to the National Autism Registry’s Family Club. David Levin and the entire Mitzvah Day committee did an awesome job!

  6. David Levin Says:

Mitzvah Day was great! 110 of us rolled up our sleeves and did some wonderful things. Because of our efforts troubled kids escaped their pain with an afternoon of song and games on the beach, 400 hungry people enjoyed lunch, a large group of underserved autistic people had a day of fun at Tomorrow’s Rainbow, the Youth Group raised $520 for Darfur relief from their Car Wash, the Vegetable Garden is growing, residents of an Adult facility were visited by the Cantor and her Choir, ceramic bowls were made in preparation for the upcoming Empty Bowls fundraiser, the knitting circle created beautiful gifts, and we all had a great time doing it!

Congratulations to the volunteers and a special thanks to the Team Captains who ran each of their events so successfully!
By the way, we did get the caps, so email me at DMLChai@Bellsouth.net.

Kudos to our group of volunteers that gave a desparately needed facelift to the Archways Halfway house this past weekend. Led by Kathy Barry and Harris Solomon, a determined group of us landscaped the outside of this home and painted the inside.
It was hard work, but the place looks lovely. The grass and plants brighten up the front while the fresh new colors did the same for the inside.
Great job! The residents will long enjoy the results of our efforts.

  8. David Levin Says:

    Don’t forget the Golf Tournament!
Please support this event. It will be great fun and we will raise money to support the extraordinary education programs Temple provides.
Ask business associates and friends to participate as well. Anyone can sponsor, play or donate a gift to our raffle.

  9. David Levin Says:

Congratulations to Cantor Wendy for a wonderful evening hosting the Filling Empty Bowls event to publicize the plight of the hungry here in Broward County and raise money to fill the cupboards of the Cooperative Feeding Program. Although this was our first year as a host site, Cantor Wendy’s hard work and very unique mixing of events helped make our evening one of the most successful in all of Broward County, raising over $2,000 to help feed the hungry.
    Kol Hakavod!

Greetings from David Levin and George Fredlund from the Kutz Camp in Beautiful Downtown Warwick NY. This week we have been attending a Lay Leadership Seminar called Had’rachah. This study session is designed to expose us to the ways of conducting different services for our Temple Community.

This is an intensive course of study and is sort of like a total emersion language course. They have a locked gate at night and everything. So far we have been able to escape at night and go into town for a little R&R also known as Guinesses. It was allot easier to accomplish after we chewed through our ankle bracelets.

We will be back on Tuesday night. Monday morning we are leaving Warwick and moving the course to the Hebrew Union College in the City.
This is good as this is a case of “How are you going to keep ‘m down on the farm, after they’ve seen the farm. JUST KIDDING FOLKS!!! This facility is a gem.

So far we have seen and learned a vast amount, which will take some time to process and catalog. In conclusion, “our seeing the other side of the bima” has led to a greater respect nad admiration for our Rabbi, Cantor and Educational Director.

We are most grateful for this opportunity. We cannot wait until next year!

    George & David

Sounds like they are working you hard. How about writing something up (with pictures) for use on the website explaining your experiences?

Temple Bat Yam is beginning a Substance Abuse Network to work with people that are ready work through issues associated with drug and alchohol addictions.

Right now George Fredlund and Sheldon Voss are working to form this outreach. If you would like to join in any capacity give George or Sheldon a call. We are both in the Temple Directory.

  13. George Fredlund Says:

The TBY Gala was allot of fun. Great Job!!!

  14. Rob Feinberg Says:

The Mitzvah Day that I went to for Kids in Distress was a great success. Thanks to Sheldon, and Linda for making the day one to remember for the kids. It was really nice to see all the wonderful smiles on the children. The beauty about giving your time to put smiles on them, also puts smiles on ourselves. Its a win win situation.

Thanks to David Levin for putting all together… again.

Also.. since your reading this, why not buy a brick to be placed at the temple patio? See the link on the website, or email me for questions, or the form. rob@alliedkitchenandbath.com
